Well done Ian. Initial reaction to new site is very good, however, it would appear not many are logging on as membership list is currently quite short. The facility to upload photos/dits is a great idea and I think it will be good for magazine contributions too (George will be pleased)! Keep up the good work.

Well, it all seems to be plodding along nicely now, with three or four current members daily signing up to the website, and new joiners enquiring about membership quite regularly (four to date) which is quite pleasing.

Yesterday and today were finger munching tense as the database on the 'dry dock' server would not, under any circumstance, talk to the server at our site.
Long periods of time were spent doing nothing at my end except worry, whilst on the East coast of Italy, some serious thinking was taking place, followed by some frantic tinkering, swearing and more thinking.
It took 38 hours from the start of the changeover to completion. You wouldn't believe what's had to be done to get this 'round peg' into a 'square hole', and even then, it wouldn't go quietly!

Have waited until now to post this blog as I wanted to calm down and look at things objectively!
Yesterday was frustrating in the extreme, due to misunderstanding of the facilities available at the web-host on the one part, and facility requirements of our site once in place.
In order of calamities it all went thus:

Old site now deleted all bar the front and index pages. Have still to upload 62 photos and descriptions for the 'Unofficial photos' section of the gallery, but that can wait for now....

Well first day where I can really mess/play with it. Bit like driving a new car, driving it is easy, but where's the knob for....; how do I stop this damn thing......; what does THAT do....?
Trying to be organised about the whole thing but getting waylaid at every turn.
