Reunited after 45 years!

Just wanted to say a big thankyou to RNCA.. After 45 years I have been able to locate and write to... and speak with one of my best friends ever... Unfortunately he is on the other side of the world!

Meanwhile... on another point... why does the metal badge have a white background and not Navy Blue? The white cheapens the appearance IMO.

Buntings and Gollies - Back in the fold?

This was submitted by Carl - your comments are most welcome!

What's in a nickname?

'Hookey' Walker - after Admiral Sir Harold Walker, who had a hook instead of a hand.
'Nobby' Clark - because nobby hats (top hats) were worn by the Clerks in the City of London.
'Slinger' Woods - because sailors loaded and unloaded freight with wooden slings.
'Tug' Wilson - after Admiral Sir Arthur Knyvet Wilson first demonstrated the use of tugs to bring big ships in and out of harbour.

Anybody any more? Especially 'Sharky' Ward, was he the unfortunate victim of a grisly death?

When was morse first used?

Submitted by Mousey.
Can someone please advise when morse was first used via radio sets in the R.N.?

DEDICATION OF ROYAL NAVAL COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION PAVIOUR AT THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL ARBORETUM SATURDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2010

National Memorial Arboretum

I have now received confirmation from the NMA that our order for the paviour is now being processed. The firm that makes them is on short time working so i cannot say when it will be completed and laid. The NMA say approximately 18 to 20 weeks, they will let me know. So, watch this space but don't hold your breath. When i get confirmation i hope to be able to visit and get some pics. either for uploading to the website or bringing with me to Brighton

Creed Teleprinter

Does anyone out there have a picture/photo of the Creed teleprinters that were in use at the end of the 70's and start of the 80's?

If so, could I have a copy? I want to show my son what a proper keyboard looks like!

Many thanks,

Chiz

Just about there!

Any links with the old website (pre-dec 07) were finally severed last month with the change of web host company.

New Website

Just a note to say well done to Ian for this website.
