Help needed to track Navy League Sea Cadets

Submitted by Sam Macfarlane on 22 Jul 14

Dear Sir
We are trying to find out more information regarding the Navy League Sea Cadets, in particular the unit on Belle Isle, around 1943/4

My father in law was born in 1926 and he has a photograph taken at Belle Isle in Lake Windermere. He is in uniform with about 50 other very young men, 6 older officers, 1 vicar and a shaggy dog. Taken in front of the round house there is a shield on display with a ships bell and inscribed T.S. Bounty.

Here he learnt morse etc and went on to join submarine training school, then on to S class submarines as a radio operator.

He has quite a few 'stories' of his experiences at that time.

If anyone is able to help with more details we would be very grateful, and I am sure he would love to pass on his memories of that time. Please contact Megan David at : [email protected]
