Greetings Shipmates. .. Please find attached the latest list of reunions.

May I say a huge thank you for the words of encouragement I have received from you to continue the listings, I think that the enclosed list says it all, this is also kept up to date onwww.rnshipmates.co.uk

THANK YOU

And welcome to lots of new readers.

I didn’t intend to revive any form of newsletter, but will send jottings such as below and sincerely hope that you will forward them on to your members if you are the responsible one for your Association, or for other like minded people to pass them around. Please please pass them around. Be the one who is responsible for bringing a couple of old shipmates together again ;-)

Please read and sign the petition detailed later.

Good afternoon,
My 86 year old father, who has vascular dementia & no longer goes out, served in the Royal Navy.
I am trying to a service whereby someone would come out & sit with him when I take my visually impaired mother out to shop & to Hospital appointments.
I am hoping to find an ex service man who would be willing to do this.
When Dad talks about his naval days he becomes animated & cheerful.
Are you able to put me in contact with someone that might be able to facilitate this?
We are located in Shepshed, Leicestershire.
Thank you,
Kindest regards,
Mrs Sue Bartram
Is there anybody nearby who can help?

Trying to contact my old ship mate Dave Stark, formerly from Gateshead then moved to Dalgety Bay.

We were part of the SA branch on board the above frigate

I am now 90 so I have started doing strange things hence no message in my earlier posting to you Mike!

Yes Mike you guessed the error right. I was looking to see if there was any contact for HMS Rajah. This was an American Escort Carrier that I served on from 44 to 47. We ended up taking it back to the states as it was a Lease Lend ship. I spent most of my time out in the Far East, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Many thanks once again Mike but if you come across any thing appertaining to the Rajah I would be interested. As I was the youngest person on the ship I doubt whether there are many of the ships company still alive.

               Best Regards. Fred Carr.

I have highlighted entry at HMS Raleigh. EVERYBODY remembers when they joined the Andrew and HMS Superb, thinking that the new Cruiser Association might be able to help.

Shipmates may wish to be aware that a Parliamentary Petition is ongoing to ‘Stop cuts to the RN & RM Amphibious Ships’.
 If you would like to sign the petition and it is hoped you will want to sign up.   Please follow the link below;
This petition calls on the Government to stop cuts to Devonport-based HMS Albion & HMS Bulwark. There has been recent media speculation that the Government is considering scrapping the Royal Navy's entire amphibious assault capabilities and cut 1,000 Royal Marines. We want these cuts stopped.
This Review is to ensure that the United Kingdom’s investment in capabilities is as joined-up, effective and efficient as possible, and will cover areas including Defence, counter terrorism, national resilience and cyber. This Review is on-going and no decisions have been made; any discussion of specific platforms or capabilities is speculation. Ministers will consider the conclusions of the National Security Capability Review in due course.
If the Petition requires 100,000 signatures to be considered for a Parliamentary Debate. There are currently 30,000 signatures.

Finally, I have been asked to do the same sort of listing of the Royal Air Force Reunions. No problem in that, I have made a start.
I have therefore opened a new email address and will collate them. If you know any RAF type who would be interested, either in entering a reunion or reading the list, please give them their own email address ... royalairforcereunions@gmail.com
Thank you for your support. This wouldn’t work without you!
