Subject: Request for Information 

Good afternoon, 

I am the Honorary Curator of the HMS Collingwood Heritage Collection and have been asked to provide some information that is not readily available to me from the collection archives. I was wondering if any of your members could help. John Wise and Jeff Dykes have already been asked. The questions are : 

1. What kit was fitted in what is now called the Lascaris War Rooms. Were there only control outfits to the Tx and RX stations or was there any Tx/RX actually down the hole? I have been asked this by the Maltese Team who are restoring the site. 

2. What type of comms equipment was fitted in HMY Britannia around about 1957. I guess it was likely to B40 B41 and CV 89A [AN/URA/8B] for Ratt and CW . The RATT element is based on a snippet in The Communicator of Summer 1957 (Pp103) . I am also surmising that Royal traffic would be double encrypted with the second layer stripped off by the SCO or Palace staff. Any further info received would be passed to a TV company who are making new episodes of The Crown for Netflix and are currently a little muddled, to say the least, wrt to comms in the Yacht.
