Help needed to solve a mystery

From: martin sparkes

Dear Sir
Please find attached a photo found recently in a junk shop nestling in a piece of furniture, which I would like to know more about if possible.
Having looked on the internet I have researched the demise of HMS Ganges
As my father who has past away in 2008 longed to fight in the second world war in the navy but due to his apprenticeship skills as a silversmith was seconded to stay back on reserved occupation building Hamilcar glider planes. I would be interested to know the back ground of the photo

I would guess by the fact that the picture was a picture post card, the picture is pre war but do not now the exact date. Along with the picture was a calling card with the name Norman Catley I have researched the internet and found a person by the name of Catley who was taken prisoner of war and there the story ends

Due to the age of the photo and seeing that you have many photos on your web site I thought that you may be interested in seeing the picture and may be want to add it to the many wonderful ones you have as I firmly believe that these heroes should not be forgotten
